Rory 28th February 2020

The thoughts and prayers from social workers worldwide are with Terry’s family. We grieve alongside you. Terry was an outstanding leader in the global social work profession. Sometimes he led from the front and shaped the profession to move forward and take specific and concreate ethical decisions and actions. Often, he led from the back supporting and nurturing others in their development. Always he ensured that decision-making processes were fair and just. Terry was wise, solid and reliable, a safe pair of hands; a rock that anchored all around him in their professional and ethical responsibilities. He held the formal positions of IFSW Parliamentarian, first Chair of Human Rights Committee, representative to Amnesty as well as being co-author of the Human Rights guide. The best outcomes of contemporary international social work are covered in Terry’s fingerprints and his work will have a lasting effect on the profession. To Margaret, his children and those closest to him, thank you for sharing Terry with us. On behalf of IFSW, we send our love to you. Rory Truell, IFSW Secretary-General.
